Big Bone Lick State Park, Kentucky

Spent about an hour at Big Bone Lick State Park in northern Kentucky, about 20 miles sw of Cincinnati.  Looked really dry.  I'll post a pic of a creek that runs through the park that one could nearly walk across.
Have always wanted to visit here for reasons other than butterflies.  When I worked in Muncie, Indiana at Oakhurst Gardens there was a Bar-B-Q joint right across the street called the Big Bone Lick.  Best spicy fries on the planet!  They had a pic on the wall of the entrance to Big Bone Lick State Park.  At the time I had no clue where it was, but the name was cool enough to intrigue me.  SInce then, the BBQ place has gone under and I have learned where the park is!
I was greeted in the parking lot by a Tawny Emperor being very aggressive, as Emperors tend to be.  It wasn't new to the BBY, but I had only seen one other one this year, so #2 of the species was certainly memorable.  I wasn't sure which Emperor it was until he landed on my arm so I could get a good look.  It must've heard I don't see so good these days!
Butterflies were very active.  Nobody nectaring, and the only ones that would hold still for lengthy viewing were the species that tend to be territorial, like the Tawny and Buckeyes.  Was hard to get good ideas on sulphurs because they were so active.  And saw a little, little dark butterfly that would only light for about half a second at a time.  Really worn Eastern-tailed Blue maybe, or maybe a Common Sootywing.  The Sootywing would have been new to BBY if I could've confirmed the bug as that.
Back to the park, apparently it got its name from the discovery of many fossilized bones of various megafauna, probably not dipped in Bar-B-Q sauce.  I post a couple pics from some of the interpretive signs.
Species for today: Tawny Emperor, Buckeye, Peck's Skipper, Summer Azure, Pearl Crescent, Cabbage White, Silvery Checkerspot, Question Mark, Monarch, Black Swallowtail, Eastern-tailed Blue, Clouded Sulphur, and Least Skipper.
Welcoming committee!

Rivers a dryin' up!
